Home Treatments Bariatric Surgery

An operation is the start, not the answer.

Sleeve, bypass and balloon performed by high-volume bariatric teams — with the psychological screening, dietitian programme and two-year follow-up that decide whether it actually works.

Bariatric Surgery
Why patients choose us for this

Bariatric surgery is the most effective treatment for severe obesity and the one most often sold badly. The operation is a tool; the outcome is decided by what happens in the two years after it. Every Belesthetic bariatric patient goes through pre-operative screening including psychological assessment, a structured dietitian programme before and after surgery, and scheduled follow-up for twenty-four months. If your BMI or medical history means surgery is not indicated, we will tell you and we will not take the case.

Screening before acceptance

Bloods, endoscopy, anaesthetic assessment and psychological screening. Not every applicant is a candidate, and we say so.

A dietitian for two years

Included, not upsold. The programme is what separates lasting results from regain.

Full hospital, full ICU

Bariatric surgery carries real risk. It is performed only in a hospital equipped to manage a complication at three in the morning.

Generally a BMI over 35, or over 30 with a related condition such as type 2 diabetes or sleep apnoea. Your file is reviewed by the surgeon before anything is confirmed.

Most sleeve patients lose 60–70% of excess weight within eighteen months, with adherence to the programme. Nobody can promise you a number.

It is common after major weight loss. Body-contouring surgery is usually considered twelve to eighteen months later, once your weight is stable.
